This newsletter is part of a regular series, Nook of Delights, in which I share the things currently giving me joy, giving me life.
Hi!
Two very wholesome reccos this week.
Real pen, real paper
Trevor and I stopped into Bobo Palm Springs this past Monday (DELIGHTFUL), and picked up a ton of goodies, most notably this long boi:
I’ve forever been a devout user of the Notes App, but have recently started putting pen to paper for lists, and LOVE IT. The mechanical process of scribbling out a list (vs dashing it off with thumbs) forces me to work through thoughts and ideas more methodically, and thusly take them more seriously. I also didn’t realize how much I missed the joys of writing with a really nice pen (I got an inky Mattehop and thin-tipped Tombow) on really cute stationary. And, most delightful of all was getting to know Bobo employee, illustrator Valerie! We are surrounded by such sweet, creative people here in the desert!
Bird food! It’s what’s for breakfast
Trevor and I have been on an overnight oats kick for MONTHS now, and we took it to the next level this past week by adding SO MANY SEEDS. Every Sunday, I lay out 14 Weck small bowl jars, and prep our breakfasts for the week. If anyone else knows of a lunch/dinner meal that is as easy to prep and holds for as long as this, PLEASE tell me about it, I’m dying to know. Here’s the latest mix:
In one ~10oz jar, combine:
1/3 cup rolled oats
1 tablespoon coconut flakes
1 tablespoon sprouted pepitas
1 tablespoon sprouted sunflower seeds
1 teaspoon sprouted flaxseeds
1 teaspoon hemp seeds
1 teaspoon sprouted chia seeds
Pinch each cardamom, cinnamon, salt
1/2 cup almond milk
Let soak for at least 30 minutes, or better yet, overnight. Break up this seed gel by swirling in coco yo, and top with berries and granola.
